National Beer Scoring Scheme
Have you ever wondered how we select pubs for CAMRA's Good Beer Guide?
CAMRA's National Beer Scoring System (NBSS) is a simple 'points out of 5' scoring system that allows its members to submit information about the quality of the real ale they have been drinking in a pub.
During the year CAMRA members will make hundreds of visits to local pubs and submit thousands of beer scores using CAMRA's National Beer Scoring System (NBSS).
How are the Scores Used?
We analyse these beer scores to rank the pubs in our branch according to the quality of their real ale.
The results of this analysis is used to:
- Monitor the quality of real ale being served in our pubs.
- Identify which pubs in our branch serve quality real ale.
- Identify those pubs that will feature in the Good Beer Guide (GBG).
- Select those pubs that will become a candidate in CAMRA's Pub of the Year competition.
- Select those pubs that will be invited to join CAMRA's LocAle Accreditation Scheme.
