See more about this pub on WhatPub, CAMRA's national pub guide.
This chalet-style pub, which opened in August 2014, is situated in the picturesque hamlet of Barfrestone - just a five minute walk from 12C Saint Nicholas Church, the second oldest Norman church in the UK.
The pub has a comfortable, country kitchen feel to it with wooden tables and chairs, sideboard, piano and a wood-burning stove.
From the corner bar a good selection of real ales, which includes a mild from the Wantsum brewery, and ciders, including one from Kent, are served alongside an excellent selection of wines. Coffee and tea are also available.
Cold platters with hand-made pork pies or scotch eggs and a cheese board are available. Food can be served at other times if pre-ordered.
There is a small TV in the corner but this is only used to show major sporting events.
Outside there is a small, sheltered patio and a lawned area with picnic benches.
Clubs wishing to hold meetings or other events are welcome to contact the pub to make arrangements. The pub can open earlier for groups, if pre-arranged, and may close a little earlier on quiet evenings.
The pub is a pleasant 1 1/2-mile walk from Shepherds Well railway station and walkers are welcome in the pub.
Branch Pub of the Year 2016 and Branch Pub of the Season Autumn 2015.
Please note that the pub may close occasionally for private functions.
